How to Annotate
Take a screenshot
Use any capture mode. The annotation editor opens automatically.
Select a tool
Click a tool in the toolbar or use its keyboard shortcut. The toolbar shows the currently active tool.
Draw on the screenshot
Click or drag to add your annotation. Hold ⇧ while drawing to constrain shapes to perfect squares or circles.
Adjust style and save
Use the style panel on the right to change color and line weight. Press ⌘S to save or ⌘C to copy.
Double-click any annotation after adding it to edit its text or style. All annotations are non-destructive until you save.
Privacy: Blur Redaction
The Blur tool applies a strong pixelation effect to hide sensitive data — passwords, personal information, credit card numbers, faces. The blur is permanent in the saved image and cannot be reversed.
Always save a separate un-annotated copy if you need the original screenshot without redactions.
